In her weekly columns, Roman romantically longs for pre-Civil War politicians (in the vein of her father and father-in-law) to lead Louisiana into recovery, and does not conceal her displeasure for all of the incumbent Republicans on the national or local level. Openly biased, she wholeheartedly supports the old regime and vilifies the new in her endeavor to rally support for the betterment of the state.
